Some valves are made uncompliant. Some start out compliant and degrade over time. In either case, you’re risking ruining your end product and putting your plant in danger. You can, however, prevent this from happening—without having to replace your entire valve.

Rotor
Rotor Clearance When housing-to-rotor clearance increases to more than .0079 inches (2 mm) you are at risk of spreading flames through your machinery if an explosion happens.
Increased Blow-by Means further damage to your valve, along with the added risks of your valve itself becoming an ignition source.
Rotor Vanes There must be a minimum of eight vanes, all 3 mm thick with metal tips for NFPA compliance.
REPLACEMENT ROTOR Rotate your rotors

It’s normal for rotors to wear and need replacement, but it’s not practical or cost effective to switch out your rotary valves every few years. The NFPA Preventative maintenance kit includes a rotor that is compatible with your CI and MD Series valves.

Shaft Seal
Glandless Teflon® Seals Reduce the friction force between the packing and the valve rotor shaft.
No cross-contamination Easy to clean for reduced material build-up, shaft seal adjustments, failures and replacements.
SHAFT SEALS x2 Switch out your old seals

To prevent cross-contamination, you should always replace your shaft seals and bearings when you switch your rotor. That’s why we provide one for each endplate as a part of our kit.

Shaft Seal
Prevent combustible dust accumulation If your shaft seal ever fails, you run the risk of combustible dust build up on your bearings.
Outboard, not inboard Inboard bearings run the risk of contaminating your end product, and further accumulating combustible dust. Always choose outboard bearings.
BEARINGS x2 Are your bearings wearing thin?

Eventually, the valve’s shaft seals can fail, and bearings can become contaminated with material build-up and combustible dusts, making a plant vulnerable to explosions.

Because valves don’t last forever

ACS Valves are NFPA compliant, but over time the rotor will become uncompliant. As long as you’re keeping proper maintenance logs for your valves, you should be able to determine how often these parts need replacing. Material wear varies by industry—abrasive materials will wear out your valves faster than fine powders.

Keep your plant safe from fires

Rotary valves act as an isolation device that stops the spread of flames through your machinery if an explosion happens. It’s important to keep them compliant in order to protect your plant from combustion and deflagration.

Keep your products safe from degradation

Regular maintenance and cleanings mean regular downtime. But they also mean that you’re keeping your products free from dangerous cross-contamination. The kit is an easy and affordable way to keep your products and plant clean, without having to replace your entire valve.
